Obituary

Betty Driehorst Allison passed from this world on February 22, 2026, and joyfully entered her heavenly home.

Born July 1, 1930, in Washington, PA, she was the daughter of William T. and Mary Gracey Driehorst. After the passing of her mother at an early age, she was raised by her stepmother, Leah Sampson Driehorst. She lived a very full and blessed life in Hickory, PA along with her husband Williard K. (Bud) Allison who preceded her in death, October 5, 1995. One sister, Mary Gracey Scott, also preceded her.

She graduated from Washington High School in 1948, attended Bethany College and graduated from Penn Commercial College. She was an active member of Hickory United EPC, singing for many years in the church choir, serving as Elder and Deacon, and retired after 21 years as the church secretary. She was a charter member and secretary of the Mt. Pleasant Township Community Center and participated in the Old Schoolhouse Players. She enjoyed playing Bridge and 500 Bid and was active in many community and family events.

She was Mom to three children, Bill Allison (Shirley), Amy Plyler (Steve), and Ken Allison (Maria). She was Gram to nine grandchildren, Jennifer Allison, Jessica Allison (Bobby), Seth Plyler (Christina), Sammy Plyler (Courtney), Sarah Zaruba (Kirill), Nick Allison (Jamie), Anthony Allison (Christa), Hailey Allison (Tuan), Matthew Allison (Jancer), and loving Great Gram to eighteen great grandchildren (plus one on the way). She was Aunt Betty to many loving nieces and nephews, particularly her namesake, Betty Little. She was often called Betty Lou or Burly to many who knew and loved her.

A time to gather to celebrate her life will begin at 2:00pm with a service at 3:00pm on Sunday, April 19, 2026, at Hickory United EPC. Memorial contributions may be made to the church, Mt. Pleasant Township Community Center, or The Old Schoolhouse Players, located in the Bud Allison Auditorium.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, where online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
