Elsie F. Fombelle, 87, of Shenango Township, passed away the evening of November 23, 2017 at UPMC Jameson Hospital.
Born April 7, 1930 in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of Floyd H. and Myrtle Young McCaslin.
She was preceded in death on July 27, 1995 by her beloved husband, Walton Wally Fombelle.
A graduate of Ellwood City High School, Elsie was an instructor for the Singer Sewing Company and also worked at the Lawrence County Farm Show in prior years.
She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful seamstress, sewing beautiful clothes for her grandchildren. In later years, Elsie enjoyed spending her winters in Florida where she was a quilter and an avid Bridge Player.
An active member of First Baptist Church since 1950, she attended the Sparklers Bible study group and drove the van for several years.
She is survived by her two daughters, Joyce Sweet of New Castle and Beth Buffy (Scott) Welker of Sorrento, Florida; one son, Douglas (Cathy) Fombelle of Queens Creek, AZ; 7 grandchildren, Andrea (Philip) Davidson, Tiffany (Trevor) Hawk, Kylie Welker, Nick Vannatten, Krista (Lamar) Reddick, Paul (Gina) Fombelle, Gregory (Michelle) Fombelle; and 7 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Donna Mae Baird and Ellen Huet-Rickets.
There will be a one hour visitation held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 9, at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation at 11:00 at the church with the Rev. John Yergan officiating.
Burial will be in Neshannock Presbyterian Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to The Sparklers or GK Care Foundation of First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
