Obituary

Henry F. (Hank) Schulz, aged 90 years, passed away on January 11th 2016 at Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, FL. Henry was born on January 25th 1925 in Cheektowaga, NY to Henry and Caroline (Kiener) Schulz. Henry grew up in Buffalo, NY and was a veteran of World War II, serving proudly in the US Marine Corps from 1943 to 1946. After leaving military service, Hank graduated from Chown School of Business in Buffalo, NY. He began working for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company in 1949 as an underwriter, and worked for Liberty for 39 years. For many years prior to his retirement as an underwriting executive in 1988, Hank headed the Liberty Mutual office in New Castle, PA. Hank married Virginia M. Brien on May 27th 1950 in Buffalo, NY. They were happily married for nearly 50 years. Hank was a long time member of Christ Lutheran Church, New Castle, PA serving on the church council as well as singing with the church choir. Henry was active in the New Castle Lions Club and served the organization in a variety of capacities. He also worked with the New Castle United Way, heading up the annual fund drive on several occasions. For many years Hank and Ginni wintered in Stuart, FL where they owned a condominium in Kingswood Phase 3. There Hank served on the Kingswood Board of Directors as an advisor on insurance matters as well as chairing the landscaping committee. Sports were an important interest of Hank's, who was a life-long Buffalo Bills fan, and an avid golfer who greatly enjoyed the camaraderie of his golfing buddies. Henry moved to Stuart, Florida full time in 2013 and became of member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Stuart. Henry was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia M. Schulz, and sisters, Dorothea Shanahan, and Norma Kiekbusch. Henry is survived by his daughter, Donna S. Krueger (Karl H. Krueger) of Fredericksburg, VA, and by a sister, Bernice Mohr, of Stuart, FL. Hank was well known in both New Castle, PA and Stuart, FL as a loyal and steadfast friend, a devoted husband and father, and a man of strong faith. He always had a smile and a kind word for everyone he met along life's road. The family will receive visitors from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM on Tuesday, January 19, 2016 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA 16105. The funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church, 1302 E Washington St., New Castle, PA. A memorial service will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, January 26th, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 2450 SE Ocean Blvd., Stuart, FL.
