Ira M. Ramsey, Jr., age 91, of Hunters Woods Blvd., passed away the afternoon of April 1, 2016 at Jameson Care Center.
Born September 8, 1924 in New Castle, he was a son of Ira M. Ramsey, Sr. and Mildred Reeves Ramsey.
Surviving at home is his loving wife of 68 years, Corinne "Mike" Treharne Ramsey, whom he married June 19, 1947.
Following his 1942 graduation from New Castle High School, Ira attended Westminster College and received his accounting degree from Robert Morris University.
He served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy.
He became a partner with Milton Lodie in business development and later took employment as an accountant with Universal Rundle for 10 years.
An active member of First Presbyterian Church, he previously served as an elder, trustee and deacon. In his spare time, Ira enjoyed gardening, boating, golf and playing bridge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Cindy R. (Dr. Terry) Bailey of New Castle; three sons, Charles M. (Roberta) Ramsey of New Castle, John D. (Fern) Ramsey of Flower Mound, TX, and Robert D. (Amy) Ramsey of Landisville, Pa; 12 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carrie Miller; one brother, Robert Ramsey; two sisters, Floy Winans and Marian Shaner; and one grandson, Gary Miller.
In keeping with Mr. Ramsey's wishes, a private memorial service was held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. Andrew Jillson officiated.
Military rites were performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
