Obituary

Jack E. McMillin, 85, of New Castle, passed away the morning of July 31, 2012 at Edison Manor.Born May 4, 1927 in New Castle, he was a son of Warren and Enid Crawford McMillin.He was married to Bettie Lutz on September 10, 1949. They enjoyed over 62 years of marriage together.He was a graduate of New Castle High School in December, 1944. He served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army.Jack previously worked as an insurance agent for Prudential Insurance Company for 15 years.He then was in pharmacy sales for 5 years and with National Chem Search dealing with industrial chemicals. He most recently was self employed as a residential insurance home inspector.Jack has always had a love for music, as evidenced by his membership in the Christian Couriers Quartet for 12 years as well as being choir director at First Baptist Church for 25 years.Among other interests, he was a pilot and enjoyed fishing and golf.He was an active member of First Baptist Church since 1948 where he taught Sunday school and was a deacon.In addition to his wife Bettie, he is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mauree Jo and Tom Luciani of Transfer, PA; a son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Debbie McMillin of New Castle; four grandchildren, Chris (Ashley) Jevcak, Michael Jevcak, Cynthia (Jason) McMillin Houston, and Timothy J. McMillin; and six great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Doris, Evelyn and Betty, and two brothers, Joseph and Warren.Visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc, 2429 Wilmington Road, and Friday, Aug. 3, 2012, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church.A funeral service will be held Friday, August 3,2012, at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church. Rev. Mike Wells and Rev. John Yergan will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church Memorial Fund, 984 W. Maitland Lane, New Castle, PA 16105.
