Janet L. Dean, 74, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 21, 2016 at her residence. Born in New Castle on August 16, 1942, she was a daughter of George and Bertha Eppinger Walters. In 1960 she graduated from Laurel High School. Past employment includes working as an assembler at Keystone Industries Window, Inc., a housekeeper at Golden Hill Nursing Home for five years and a school bus driver for Laurel High School for several years. As well as being a Girl Scout Leader, she served as a leader for Lawrence County 4-H for 40 years, and led the Porky Pig Club. She was a member of a card club and enjoyed yard work. Survivors include three daughters, Trinda L. Booher and Cathy S. (Mark) Sodersten of New Castle, and Jodi L. (Todd) Ketterer of Harmony, PA; one sister, Donna L. (Duane) Duncan of Carlisle, PA; five grandchildren, Kate (Matt) Aiken, Troy and Jake Booher and Colton and Carri Myers; and two step grandchildren, Chelcie and Kris Ketterer. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, Larry Walters. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8 and Tuesday from 10-11 at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be held immediately following visitation at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the funeral home with Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will be in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
