Josephine G. Ferraro, 87, of New Castle, PA, passed away the evening of April 4, 2014 at Jameson Care Center.Born September 18, 1926 in New Castle, she was a daughter of Francesco and Giacinta Parenti Galassi.She was married on April 3, 1948 to the love of her life, Lindy D. Ferraro. He preceded her in death on June 14, 2007.Josephine was a January, 1945 graduate of New Castle High School. She was a great homemaker, taking care of her husband and their four daughters.She had a passion for helping people, and enjoyed volunteering for several organizations such as Meals on Wheels, Jameson Guild, and the Walmo Garden Club.While her greatest joy in life was her family, she also enjoyed sewing, cooking and gardening. She was a member of St. Camillus Church.She is survived by her four daughters, Celeste (Trevor) Bradway of Vail, CO, Justine Ferraro Kearney of New Castle, Rachele Ferraro (Marc) Michaelson of San Francisco, CA, and Lynette Ferraro (Chris) Dudar also of Vail, CO; one sister, Rose Ambrose of Warren, OH; and 5 grandchildren, Kristin Bradway, Kate Bradway and Fiance' James Rahn, Lindy Kearney, Rachel Kearney, and Gabriella Ferraro Michaelson.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one sister, Susie Stoner.Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral procession will leave the funeral home at 10:40 a.m. Monday for St. Camillus Church where a Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. The Rev. Thomas Lewandowski and Rev. Pat Ferraro will be officiating. Burial will be in Castle View Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be made to Meals on Wheels, PO Box 5122, New Castle, PA 16105.
