Laura A. Ferree, 60, of New Castle, passed away unexpectedly the morning of January 11, 2018 at her home. Born July 9, 1957 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Francis E. and Myrna Venditto Shearer. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death on April 27, 2001 by her husband, John T. Ferree, whom she married in November, 1981. Laura attended New Wilmington Area High School, but was a graduate of Lawrence County Vo-Tech. She was a self-employed beautician and owned Laura Ferrees Family Salon for over 35 years. In addition, she also worked at Guys & Dolls Beauty Salon for many years. She was a member of CGS and enjoyed shopping, crafts, going out to dinner and spending time with her family, friends and grandchildren. In addition to her father who lives in New Castle, she is survived by one daughter, Ashley E. Ferree of New Castle; one son, Jason E. (Maggie) Shearer of New Castle; one sister, Debra Sipe of New Castle; and four grandchildren, Jason, Gina, Mia and Aiden. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place immediately following the visitation Sunday at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev.
