Obituary

Marian L. Spellick, 89, of 220 Baird Road, Edinburg, Pa., passed away the morning of July 2, 2013 at her residence. Born June 18, 1924, in Edinburg, she was a daughter of George V. and Ethel I. Leeper Kuhn.Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Albert D. Spellick, on December 3, 2002. They were married on February 25, 1948. She was a graduate of Union High School in 1942. Before becoming a homemaker, Marian was employed at American Cyanamid during World War II, where she made paper shells. An active member of Mahoning Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, she was a Sunday school treasurer and deacon. She also was a member of the Dorcas Ladies Group and delivered meals to shut-ins. Reading, traveling, and spending time with others were some of her many interests. She also enjoyed playing cards and was a member of the Country Bridge Club for 50 years. Marian served on the Board of Elections, and was a member of the Ladies Diet Club. Marian was known to always greet you with a pleasant, loving smile and had a passion for life, love, family and friends. Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Spellick, of Edinburg; one brother, Paul Kuhn of Edinburg; a step brother Joseph Campbell and his wife Beverly; a sister-in-law, Rhea Belle Kuhn of New Castle; one grandson, Christopher Spellick; and two great-grandsons, Jordan Spellick and Nathaniel Spellick; three step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, David L. Spellick; two grandsons, Matthew Spellick and Michael Spellick; one sister, Emma Grace Kuhn; one brother, Frank Kuhn; and her step-mother, Irene Patterson Kuhn. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 5, 2013, from 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will immediately follow visitation Friday, July 5, 2013, at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home and will be officiated by Rev. Richard Byerly and Rev. Robert Dayton.Burial will be in Mahoning Presbyterian Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mahoning Presbyterian Church, 4401 Sky Hill Road, Pulaski, PA 16143.
