Wayne E. Schuffert, 80, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 25, 2013 at Edison Manor. Born January 26, 1933 in New Castle, he was a son of Harry E. and Myrtle Barnes Schuffert.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Phyllis Reed Schuffert, whom he married January 11, 1969. Wayne was a graduate of New Castle High School. He then served his country during the Korean Conflict as a PFC in the U.S. Army. He was employed most of his life as a millwright for LTV Steel in Youngstown and attended Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by one sister, Marge Hornbeck; one niece, Debbie Boitnott of Michigan; and two nephews, Raymond Hornbeck of Florida, and Chris Hornbeck of Michigan. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother-in-law, Morris Hornbeck; and one niece, Dorrie Pastor. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 28, 2013, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, October 29, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. and will be officiated by Rev. Chris Weichman. Military rites will be given by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
