Abigail Joy
Campbell
Aug 19, 2021 — Apr 13, 2025
Abigail Joy Campbell, age 3, of New Wilmington, PA, went to be with Jesus on the morning of Thurs. April 10th, 2025, and her heart became fully healed on Sunday April 13th, 2025, at UPMC Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Born Aug. 19, 2021, in Pittsburgh, PA, she is the dearly loved daughter of Cody G. and Brittany R. (Baker) Campbell and the adored baby sister of Caleb (7) and Joelle Grace (5) Campbell. Abigail means "my Father's joy". Her parents weren't sure if she would even make it to birth to bring joy to her earthly father or only to her Heavenly Father. They were incredibly blessed that it got to be both. Abby Joy's life was never easy, but she radiated true joy (happiness that was beyond circumstances) every single day. Her life verse was Nehemiah 8:10 "Do not grieve, for the joy of the LORD is your strength." She taught this verse by living it out in front of everyone she met.
Abby Joy loved and adored her siblings, Caleb and Joelle Grace. Going on field trips, riding her bike, taking outdoor walks, and being homeschooled alongside them with "Mama" are just a few of the things she enjoyed doing every day. Her favorite show, Paw Patrol, always made her smile, especially when she spotted Skye. It is fitting that her final trip to Children's Hospital was in a helicopter like Skye.
Attending church, seeing her church family, and listening to her church music were some of the many highlights of Abby Joy's life. She enjoyed her church music so much it was something that she requested to listen to daily. Also, she loved being patted to sleep each night by her "Dada".
In addition to her parents and siblings, Abby Joy is survived by her grandparents, Rock & Diana Baker of Mercer, PA, and Donald & Barbara Campbell of West Sunbury, PA; her great grandparents Matthew & Donna Grace Lazaroff of Mercer, PA; her aunt and uncles, Emily & Jake Moore of West Sunbury, PA, Nicholas & Elizabeth Baker of Littleton, MA, Brad Baker of Mercer, PA, and Maria & Micah Thomas of Cary, NC; great uncle and great aunt, Ray & Donna Rae Baker of Mercer, PA; and her cousins, Chase & Rhett Moore, Atlas Thomas & special foster cousins.
A time of visitation to honor her life, will be held on Tuesday April 22nd from 4:30 PM – 7:30 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. Online condolences may be offered to the family by visiting www.cunninghamfh.com.
All are invited to attend a Celebration of Life Service that will be held on Wed. April 23rd, at 4:30 PM, at New Life Baptist Church, 3414 State Route 208, New Wilmington PA, 16142.
Abby Joy stayed on every in-patient floor of CHP and was treated on every other floor. The family also had an extended stay at Ronald McDonald House. All these experiences have given her parents a behind the scenes window into all parts of the hospital. They feel led to work in the coming days to create a non-profit to bless children and families as they walk incredibly difficult medical paths. To begin this process, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cody or Brittany Campbell with the subject line "JOY." If you would like to be part of future emails related to this, please email bcampbellpiano@gmail.com with the subject line "JOY." A special thanks to all the prayer warriors that prayed for her and the family throughout her whole life.
The family would like to give a special thank you to her home health nurses and therapists who helped Abby Joy along her journey. They would also like to thank Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh for their incredible clinical care.
