Achim Jurgens, 68, of New Castle, passed away the evening of March 18, 2011 at UPMC Montefiore Hospital in Pittsburgh.Achim was born on December 5, 1942 to the late Franz and Maria Leibert Jurgens in Danzig, Germany. He studied at the University of Cologne in Cologne, Germany. Once coming to the states, Mr. Jurgens met his companion of 23 years, Mrs. Vicki L. Couch. She survives. Achim was the Vice President of MAN GHH, which later became SMS Demag, and enjoyed golfing. He was of the Catholic faith.In addition to his companion Vicki, he is survived by a daughter, Yvonne Steffan of Germany; a step daughter, Leah and her husband Jeff Cwynar of New Castle; two brothers, Ehrhardt and Hartmutt Jurgens; one sister, Dagmar Jagodzinski; one nephew Axel Jurgens; one granddaughter Vanessa Muhlhausen all of Germany; and two step-grandchildren Olivia and Isabella Cwynar of New Castle.Mr. Jurgens was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Northminster Presbyterian Church on Wilmington Road, New Castle.
