Agnes E. Shaffer, age 85, of New Castle, passed away October 30, 2016 at Jameson Place. Born September 7, 1931 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Edward G. and Anna Halley Vannatten. She was preceded in death on June 30, 2012 by her husband of 63 years, Ralph E. Shaffer, Sr. whom she married on December 31, 1948. Agnes was a homemaker and enjoyed reading and traveling. She was a member of New Life Baptist Church. She is survived by her two sons, Ralph E. Shaffer and Mark Shaffer, both of New Castle; one daughter, Sheryl E. Welsh of Arizona; five grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters; a daughter-in-law Stephanie L. Shaffer; and one great-grandson, George Henry Tervo. There will be no calling hours. A private service was held at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc. Burial was in Mt.
