Albert George Hoffmaster, age 92, of New Castle, PA, passed away the late afternoon of Oct. 26, 2024, at his residence.
Born Dec. 4, 1931, in Grove City, PA, he was the son of the late Wright R. and May M. (McAnlis) Hoffmaster.
On April 20, 1956, he married his beloved wife, Kathryn L. (Sherer) Hoffmaster, who preceded him in death in 2018.
Mr. Hoffmaster was a 1950 graduate of Mt. Jackson High School. He attended Penn State University for two years and then went on to obtain his bachelor's degree, in business administration, from Youngstown State University. Albert faithfully served his country in the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict, where he was ranked as Specialist 3rd Class. He was employed by Agway as Assistant Manager with the New Wilmington and New Castle stores for 17 years, until his retirement in 2012.
Albert was a member of several different bowling leagues for 25 years. He was also a member of Fur, Fin & Feather Sportsman Club. He enjoyed hunting, horses, and spending time with his family. Albert was a former member of Westfield Presbyterian Church, New Bedford Presbyterian Church, Calvary Temple, and First Assembly of God Bessemer, where he sang in the church choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Laurel Hoffmaster, Betsy (Gary) Schooley, and Melissa L. (Randy) Smart, all of New Castle, PA; one son, Martin S. Hoffmaster of New Castle, PA; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, Albert was preceded in death by one sister, Eleanor Gardner.
Visitation will be held on Mon. Nov. 11th from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A memorial service will take place immediately following visitation at 12:00 PM, at the funeral home, with Albert's grandson, Pastor Adam Schooley, officiating and the New Castle Area Honor Guard performing military honors.
Burial will be at The Reformed Presbyterian Cemetery.
