Alexis Sophia (Vellis) Cook, age 72, of New Castle, passed away the evening of Dec. 16, 2022, at UPMC Jameson Hospital.

Born March 1, 1950, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Christ and Vula (Kainaroi) Vellis.

On June 5, 1970, she married her beloved husband of 52 years, William R. Cook. He survives at home.

Alexis was a 1968 graduate of McKeesport High School. She attended Point Park University. Alexis was employed by Phil Fitts Lincoln-Mercury-Ford, for twenty years, until her retirement. She was an active and dedicated member of the Zem Zem Shrine, Erie, where she was named first lady in 2006. Each year she looked forward to wintering in Florida with her husband. What Alexis treasured most, was spending time with her grandchildren, who were the center of her life.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by son Blaine A. Cook; daughter, Jennifer Lynn Cook Brown and son-in-law, Michael T. Brown; grandson, Evan Michael Brown, and granddaughter, Emily Madison Brown.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, George C. Vellis.
