Alfred "Al" Shoop, 77, of New Castle, passed away the morning of November 14, 2014 at his residence. Born January 23, 1937 in New Castle, he was a son of William A. and Nevada Pisor Shoop. Surviving at home is his wife of 56 years, Nancy Dambach Shoop, whom he married February 1, 1958. Al served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957. He was employed as a lineman for 38 years with Penn Power Company, retiring in 1994. Al was an avid motorcyclist and a member of the RETREADS Motorcycle Club. He also enjoyed gardening, woodworking and stain glass. Al's greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. Al attended Evangel Community Church. In addition to his wife Nancy, he is survived by two sons and their wives, Robert W. and Patty Shoop of Grove City, and David A. and Susan Shoop of New Castle; two sisters, Katherine Stokes and Delores Cummins, both of New Castle; six grandchildren, Tony Shoop, Sarah Shoop, Andrew Shoop, Jessica (Shawn) Pennington, Nathan Shoop, and Samantha (Jack) Alwardt; and three great-grandchildren, Gavin Gilmore, Jordin Pennington, and Delilah Alwardt. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son; and two brothers, William and Richard Shoop. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, from 11:00-1:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place on Tuesday, November 18, 2014, immediately following visitation at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert Strobel officiating. Military rites will be given by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery.
