Alice Emery, age 88, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of March 3, 2016 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born March 19, 1927 in Princeton, she was a daughter of the late Floyd and Hazel Morse Houk. She was preceded in death on August 1, 1980 by her husband Joseph Emery, whom she married on April 14, 1951. Alice was a 1945 graduate of the former Princeton High School. She was a member of the St. Joseph the Worker Church. Alice was employed as a decorator at the Shenango China, Mays Donuts Shop, and had retired from the dental office of Dr. John Nixon. She is survived by three sons, Joseph Emery, Jeffrey (Angela) Emery, and Chris Emery and his fiancé Kim Pitts; one daughter, Mrs. Allison (Roger) Jones; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Samuel, Robert, and Joseph Houk; five sisters, Helen Houk, Mrs. Ione (James) Mayberry, Mrs. Katherine (Benny) Perry, Mrs. Lois (James) McCallion, and Mrs. Betty (Joseph) Zeigler. Visitation will be held on Monday from 10:00—12:00 at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Monday at noon at the funeral home with the Father Richard Ward officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
