Alice L. Dean Gibson, 95, formerly of Park Road, New Castle, passed away on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Born November 2, 1917 in Plain Grove Township, she was the daughter of William S. and Hazel P. Shoaff Dean. Alice married Joseph A. Gibson on February 7, 1941 and he preceded her in death on March, 17, 1994. Alice graduated from Harlansburg High School, where she played on the girls basketball team and New Castle Business School. She retired in 1978 from Rockwell International as Accountant in their transmission and axel division. Alice was an avid golfer, she belonged to both the Borlands Women's League and Green Meadows Couples League. She also enjoyed baking, traveling, attending Sparklers at First Baptist Church, Challenges and the Westminster College Celebrity Series, but most of all spending time with her daughter and grandchildren. She was a member of First Baptist Church and 3M Sunday Class. Survivors include a daughter, Jane and her husband Paul Gajda of Harlansburg; two grandchildren, Brandon P. and Brant J. Gajda; and three great-grandchildren, Joey, Lydia and Maggie. In addition to her parents, and husband, she preceded in death by a brother, Charles Dean; and two sisters, M. Elizabeth Dean Krepps and Betty L. Dean Miles. Visitation will be Monday, October 21, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd., New Castle. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. John Yergan officiating. Burial will follow in Unity Baptist Cemetery.
