Allen Ellsworth Boyer, age 81, of Edinburg, PA, passed away on Dec. 15, 2021, at Mercy Health in Boardman, Ohio. Born Nov. 19, 1940, he was the son of the late Raymond Walter and Anna Gladys (Altman) Boyer. On Nov. 16, 1979, he married his beloved wife of 42 years, Shirley Ann (McMaster) Boyer. She survives at home. Allen was a graduate of New Wilmington High School. For most of his life, he worked as a body shop technician. He also worked for Adobe coal strip mine, Control Transformer, in the shipping/receiving department. Allen loved Nascar, especially Dale Earnhardt Sr., working on cars, going to auctions and spending time with his great-granddaughter, Lily whom he had a very special relationship with. Lily will always remember the times she sat with 'Papa' reading the newspaper, when he helped her with her bike helmet, attending all her soccer and softball games, and the one and only time that 'Papa' told her no. Allen was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. In addition to his wife, Allen is survived by three daughters, Diane Jean (Daniel) Dantico, of Pulaski, PA, Robin McBride of Leander, TX, Vickie (Mark) McConnell of Edinburg, PA; his siblings, Delores (Rev. Thomas) McCurdy, Ray N. Boyer, David L. Boyer, Barbara (Harry) Pawlek, and Perry W. Boyer; two grandchildren, Rachael (Zach) Merryman and Christopher (Kristine) McBride; and four great-grandchildren, Lily Alan McConnell, Raylas Love, Liam McBride, and Ahna McBride. Along with his parents, Allen was preceded in death by two sons, Mark A. Boyer, and Timothy A. Boyer, one grandchild, Mark A. McConnell II, and his siblings Raymond D. Boyer, Mary E. Stewart, James F. Boyer, Janice Lewis, Wayne Boyer, Gary F. Boyer and Gerald A. Boyer. Visitation will be held on Sat. Dec. 18th, from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately after visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Michael Spicuzza officiating. Burial will be at Slippery Rock Cemetery, in Slippery Rock, PA.
