Allen "Butch" D. Lowry, 84, of New Castle, PA passed away July 28, 2024. He was born July 8, 1940, in New Castle, the eldest son of the late Ernest and Edith Lowry.

Allen was a 1958 Union High School graduate and two-year varsity letterman in basketball.

After one year at Geneva College, he proudly served his country in the United States Army Signal Corps from 1960-1963. In 1970, he earned his degree in mathematics from Youngstown State University.

Allen started his career as an Industrial Engineer for LTV Steel, Youngstown. Over 30 years, he held several positions with LTV/Cold Metal Products/J&L Steel in Youngstown and Indianapolis, retiring as Materials Manager, U.S. Operations in 2000.

He married his loving wife, Anita Lee Leasure, in September 1965. They were married for 30 years until she lost her battle with cancer August 1995. In 1998, he was fortunate to find love again and married Judy Carr, who was also widowed in 1995. They were married for 26 years, until her death April 2024.

An avid golfer, Allen was known for his accuracy off the tee and proficiency on the par 3s. He served as president of the West Side Golf League at Mohawk Trails (now at Castle Hills) for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and dining at his favorite restaurants where he built lasting friendships with the staff.

Allen is survived by his daughter, Marci Lowry of Winnabow, NC, and son Jason Lowry of Rockville, MD; two sisters: Linda Brown of New Castle and Pamela Glass of Hubbard, OH; two brothers: Jerald (Sue) Lowry of Cranberry, PA and Kerry Lowry of New Castle; a stepdaughter, Diane (Bill) Herd of Santa Cruz, CA; three stepsons, Jimmy Carr (Debbie) and Norman Carr of New Castle, and David Carr (Barbara) of Pulaski, PA; a sister-in-law Mary Lou Gallatin of New Castle and a brother-in-law, James Scocchera of Lincolnton, NC; nine step grandchildren and nine step great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and both wives, Allen was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Jacqueline and Carl Cadman, a nephew, Stephen Cadman, and niece, Jill Cadman, and a brother-in-law, Daniel Gallatin.

A Memorial service will take place on Friday, August 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the Graceland Cemetery Chapel where military honors will be performed by the New Castle Area Honor Guard. Rev. Michael Spicuzza will officiate.
