Allen "Lee" Martell, 66, of New Castle passed away December 25, 2017 at his home. Born April 28, 1951 in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, he was the son of Robert W. and Bertha Tourtellotte Martell. He married the former Deborah Simpson on October 13, 1973. He attended First Baptist Church. Lee was a Staff Sgt. with the United States Marine Corp serving over 10 years active duty including two tours during the Vietnam War. A strong patriot he considered his service with the Marines an honor and privilege. Post military, he served as a Corrections Officer for Pennsylvania State Penitentiary in Pittsburgh. He later worked in car and HVAC sales. His fondness for baseball started at an early age when he was a bat boy for the St. Louis Cardinal minor league team in St. Petersburg, FL. He enjoyed coaching his sons little league baseball teams. In addition, he was a faithful Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. Lee loved classic cars and oldies music and enjoyed being the DJ at local car cruises. He was especially proud of being DJ Lee at the Monday night cruises in Lowellville and the friends he made there through the years. Along with his wife of 44 years he is survived by two daughters, Shannon (Will) McLeod of Summerville, South Carolina, Erika (Ken) Stuart of New Castle; one son, Jason (Holly) Martell of Winter Garden, Florida; one brother, Albert B. Martell of St. Petersburg, Florida; three sisters, Jean (Bill) Evans of New Castle, PA, Joan (Ray) Fulcher of Wells, Maine, Mildred McCollam of St. Petersburg, Florida; four grandchildren, Gresham James McLeod, Jacob Nile Stuart, Aubrey Leigh Martell, and Brayden Conner Martell. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant twin sister, Katherine Ann; brother-in-law, Phillip Mac McCollam, and niece, Patti McCollam. Visitation will be on Sunday, December 31st from 3:00-5:00 pm, at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will be at 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 31st at the funeral home with Rev. John Yergan officiating.
