Allen J. Velette, 74, of Neshannock Township, passed away the morning of December 19, 2014 at his residence. Born August 19, 1940 in Chicago, Ill, he was a son of John J. and Margaret Sinder Velette. Surviving at home is his wife, Nancy Velette, whom he married January 27, 2011. A graduate of St. Rita High School in Chicago, he attended Northern Illinois University. Allen was a truck salesman with Mack Trucks, advancing to the position of Regional Branch Manager, totaling 25 years of service in both the Pittsburgh and Chicago areas. He then was employed in maintenance for 10 years with Duddy Management. Al was an avid pilot who took great pride in his home built airplane. He attended the EAA's Air Venture in Oshkosh for over 3 decades and was a member of EAA Chapter #857. In addition to his wife, he survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Gay Velette of West Deer, PA, and Michael Velette of Ross Township; and four grandchildren, James, Jennifer, Hannah and Max. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jack Velette. Visitation will be held on Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A memorial service will immediately follow visitation Monday at 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Marsha Parrish officiating.
