Andrew Orr, 90, of Rhodes Estates, formerly of Glenda Drive, passed away the evening of June 10, 2011 in Avalon Nursing Center.Born December 29, 1920 in Ormiston, Scotland, he was a son of Hugh and Grace Armstrong Orr. He married Carol C. Cummings on December 19, 1944. She survives in New Castle.Andrew was a graduate of Aliquippa High School and served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII.He was employed with the Rockwell International Axle Plant for 32 years as a production control supervisor. He retired in 1982.Andrew was a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. He enjoyed sports, especially golf and bowling.He was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, deacon and Sunday school teacher.In addition to his wife, he is surived by one son and daugther-in-law, Barry Hugh and Ina Orr of New Castle; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Leslie Elaine Stewart and two brothers, Frank and Alexander Orr.Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 2011, from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will take place on Wednesday, June 15, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev. Andrew Jillson and Father James Orr will officiate. Burial will be in Castle View Gardens. Military rites will be provided by the New Castle Area Honor Guard.
