Anna Thompson, 94 of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 9, 2020 at Jameson Care Center. Born July 20, 1925 in Youngstown, Ohio, Anna was the daughter of the late Stephan & Elizabeth (Filakowski) Ilich. She was married to Walter H. Thompson, who preceded her in death. Anna was a graduate of Union Area High School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, baking and flowers. What gave Anna the most joy in life, was spending time with her family. She was a member of Clen-Moore Presbyterian Church. Anna is survived by two sons, James R. Thompson, Sr., of Ellwood City, Pa., W. John (Debbie) Thompson of Coupeville, WA; one daughter, Margaret (Anthony) Micco of New Castle; one brother Robert Demetro of Ohio; four grandchildren, Carol Thompson, James R. Thompson II, Jonathan Micco, Michael Micco and three great-grandchildren. Along with her parents and husband, Anna is preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, sisters Mary Farrall, Frances Nacarato, Barbara Vodhanel and brothers, Andy Novak, John Novak, Steve Ilich and Michael Ilich. Visitation will be held on Sunday Feb. 16th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and Monday Feb. 17th from 10:00 -11:00 AM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow visitation on Monday Feb. 17th at 11:00 AM with Rev. Michael Spicuzza officiating. Entombment will be at Castleview Cemetery.
