Anthony P. Anzalone, 77, of 311 E. Meyer Avenue, passed away the afternoon of October 2, 2012 at Edison Manor.Born on August 21, 1935, in New Castle, he was a son of Salvatore and Maria Mangione Anzalone.He married the former Kathleen Harrah on March 2, 1957, celebrating over 55 years of marriage.Anthony attended New Castle High School.He retired in 1997 from Select Industries after working 26 years for the Crane Company/Pentex Industries.Among Anthony's many interests, he enjoyed softball, fishing, hunting, and camping. He liked playing bocce as well as bowling, and he once bowled a 300 game. Anthony loved attending his grandchildren's various activities and trips to the beach, especially the Outer Banks. He also enjoyed watching the Steelers, Penguins and Nascar, and he cherished most the time he spent with his children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.Anthony was a member of St. Camillus Church.In addition to his wife Kathleen, he is survived by one daughter, Patricia A. Carfang-Myers and her husband Daniel, of Mercer, PA; three sons, Anthony M. Anzalone and Vincent A. (Lisa) Anzalone of New Castle, and Edward S. "Ted" Anzalone of Mesa, AZ; a son-in-law, Russell A. Smith of Mercer; a brother, Richard J. (Mary Lou) Anzalone of New Castle; one sister, Frances Fregone of Martinsburg, PA; 14 grandchildren, Tessa D. Anzalone, Alyssa R. Anzalone and Isabella R. Anzalone all of Plant City, FL, Carissa A. Smith, Elizabeth A. Smith, David R. Carfang and Casey A. Carfang all of Mercer, PA, Rebecca A. (Mark) Kriegshauser, Samantha J. Anzalone and Quinton T. Anzalone all of Tucson, AZ, Audrey E. Anzalone, Anthony V. Anzalone, Adrienne M. Anzalone and Alivia R. Anzalone all of New Castle; one great-grandchild, Lucas M. Kriegshauser of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Veronica A. Smith; 4 brothers, George, Joseph, Albert and Samuel Anzalone; and 4 sisters, Clara Passifiume, Rose Hanes, Rita Weir and Mary Jane Mowry.Visitation will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.A procession will leave the funeral home Saturday, October 6, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at St. Camillus Church.
