Arthur C. Weir, 78, resident of Neshannock Twp., New Castle, PA died peacefully at his home on Sunday, February 14, 2021, surrounded by his family. He was born July 15, 1942 in New Castle, PA to Arthur Weir and Esther L. Hilton.
He was married to Cindy (McCoy Hilton) Weir for 25 wonderful years. He loved traveling and sharing his love of dancing to the oldies.
Art was a graduate of Shenango High School. He retired as Plant Manager from Western PA Steel Fabricating where he enjoyed the friendship, he had with owner, Fred DeFiore, and fellow employees.
The most important thing in his life was his family. Even though he doted over his 2 granddaughters, he was so excited when his great-granddaughter, Gemma Rose was born. Her big blue eyes just made him melt. He was so proud of his achievement in obtaining the 32nd degree at Mahoning New Castle Lodge No. 243. He was a private pilot along with his brother, Pete Collins. He truly enjoyed the time spent with him.
One of his greatest joys was spending his winters in Myrtle Beach with his "snowbird family". He would spend hours on the beach searching for shark teeth and Pawley Island shells. Also, he loved Cindy's aunt, Bettie Miles and cousin, Roxie Miles. He enjoyed playing cards and traveling with them.
Memberships include Eintracht Singing Society, Polish Falcons Nest 46 and Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 51.
In addition to his wife, survivors are his daughter, Kimberly A. (Harold) Iorio, granddaughters, Alexandra N. (Tim) Whipple and Sarah R. Iorio and her companion, John Black, great-granddaughter, Gemma Rose Whipple, brothers Pete Collins and Bob Weir, brother-in-law Bill Moore and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Hemphill and Audley Weir and one sister, Araminta (Amy) Moore.
Visiting hours will be held on Thurs. Feb. 18th from 4pm to 7pm at R. Cunningham Funeral Home on 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA.
A private service will be conducted by his niece CLP Stacey (Jim) Cox.
CDC guidelines will be in place in regard to wearing masks and social distancing. Due to CDC Pennsylvania guidelines, there may be limited access due to room capacity.
His final resting place will be at Graceland Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
