Audreene Mae Rhodes, age 84 of Shenango Township, passed away the late afternoon of October 23, 2019 at Clen-Moore Place. Born April 9, 1935, in New Castle, she was the daughter of the late Taley & Lillian (Mitchell) Bevan. She married her beloved husband, Charles Milton "Chuck" Rhodes, of 56 years on May 3, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2014. Mrs. Rhodes was a 1953 graduate of New Castle High School. After graduation she attended New Castle Business School graduating in 1954. Audreene loved to sew, play cards with her card club, build puzzles and go to the casino. Most of all, she loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was of the Presbyterian faith and was a lifelong member of Third UP Presbyterian Church where she served as a Deacon, attended Sunday school and volunteered in the soup, book and rummage sales. More recently Audreene attended Northminster Presbyterian Church. Audreene is survived by three sons; Charles "Rusty" (Susan) Rhodes, Jr. of Mars, Pa, Douglas B. (Colleen) Rhodes of New Castle, PA , James J. (Nancy) Rhodes of Seven Fields, PA, six grandchildren, Michael, Marisa and Megan Barron, Paige, Alexander and Andria Rhodes. She was preceded in death by her husband, a brother George Bevan, and parents. Visitation will be held on Sat. Oct. 26 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will follow immediately after visitation at 4:00 PM with Pastor Dr. Jordan Rimmer of Northminster Presbyterian church officiating. Burial will be beside her husband at Oak Park Cemetery.
