Barbara "Barbie" Woods Barber, 70, of 3011 Mercer Road, New Castle, PA. went to be with the Lord at 7:30 pm on March 20, 2010 at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, PA.She was born on July 26, 1939 to Robert and Matilda Drotleff Woods in Ellwood City, PA.On March 18, 1961 she married Richard D. Barber, he survives. Barbie was a member of the First Baptist Church in New Castle. She graduated from Ellwood City High School and Jameson School of Nursing class of 1960. Barbie worked in the Jameson Hospital system for over 50 years. She helped deliver an untold number of babies. Barbie was happiest when working with children. Most of Barbie's nursing career was spent caring for critically ill infants and children. The Barber family would like to thank all the nurses, doctors and friends for their caring and support during Barbie's brief illness.Besides her husband, survivors include two sons, Dr. Timothy M. Barber of The Woodlands, TX. and Richard G. Barber and his wife Kelly of Brunswick, OH.; two grandsons, Grant and Zackary Barber of Brunswick, OH.; two Brothers, Robert Woods of Winfield, LA. and Randy Woods of Pittsburgh, PA.; and one sister, Janet Schoenweis of Troy, OH.She was preceded in death by her parents, and a daughter, Susan P. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. Pastor Mike Wells of First Baptist Church will conduct the service assisted by Pastor John Yergan.
