Obituary

Barbara Ann Emery passed away at the age of 77 on July 7, 2025, surrounded by loved ones at Magee Hospital.

She was born April 3rd, 1948. She was the daughter of the late Robert J Stillwagon Sr. and Anna Mae (Diamond) Stillwagon. She graduated from Ne-Ca-Hi class of 1966 and was employed in the office of E.D. Fee Transfer/NC Cold Storage for more than 50 years.

Barbara was a member of Northminster Presbyterian Church of many years, where she was a past deacon and sang in the choir. She served the coffee hour for the month of December for many years with her daughters and their homemade cookies.

She enjoyed Pirates, Steelers, and Penguin games and was an avid Nascar fan. Her favorite television shows were Gutfeld and Grey's Anatomy.

Barbara appreciated traveling around the country with her late husband (James L. Emery Sr.) and later her daughter Jennifer. Together they visited all 50 states, Canada, and Mexico. In addition to traveling, she spent time making crafts to enter in the Lawrence County Fair. She especially enjoyed crocheting baby blankets and hats that were donated to Jameson Hospital Maternity department.

Above everything, what mattered most to Barbara, was her family. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She attended every ball game, birthday party, family vacation, recital, or event she was able to attend.

Survivors include her children, James L (Tiffany), Paul A (Theresa), Gary E (Stacy) and Robert J (Kasarah) Emery and her daughters Jennifer (William) Garella, and Laurie Emery; 12 grandchildren: Austin, Courtney, Ava, Laney, Nicholas, Gabrielle, Ryan, Valerie, Mason, Peyton Emery and Mia and Vincent Garella; sister-in-law and friend, Beverly Stillwagon; Beverly's daughters Krista Harvey and Marisa (Ryan) Buckel and their children Kasaundra Harvey, Andrew and Angelica Buckel, with whom Barbara enjoyed many holiday gatherings and birthday parties with. She is also survived by long-time friends Mary Ann McCloskey and Patricia Murray; her cousins, Carroll, Gene, Joan Robinson and Jan and Bunny Denson, and several other family members.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was proceeded in death by two brothers Robert J. Jr, and Donald E. Stillwagon, sister-in-law Charlotte Wallace, aunt and uncle James and Helen Robinson, and brother-in-law John R. Drew.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 14th from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.

A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation, at 7:00 PM, with Rev. Jordan Rimmer of Northminster Presbyterian Church, officiating.

Burial will be at Parkside Cemetery.
