Obituary

Beatrice A. Callahan, 89, from New Castle went to be with the Lord on Oct. 29, 2020, at Wesbury United Methodist Community in Meadville, PA. Born April 16, 1931 in Sharon, she was the daughter of late William G. and M. Elsie Gallagher Craig. She married John Patrick Callahan on June 29, 1948. He passed away on November 9, 2009. Mrs. Callahan worked at Troutman's Department Store, People's Bank Travel and Total Travel. She was a member of Second U.P. Church having joined at twelve years of age. Here she loved teaching Bible School, serving as an elder and singing in the choir to praise the Lord. Mrs. Callahan was also a member of New Covenant Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Wimodausis, New Castle Chapter #105 OES, and New Castle Rainbow Assembly #1 board member. She was blessed with four daughters and two sons-in-law, Kathryn and John Schweda of Illinois, Karen Johnson of Kittanning, Jacqueline and Jerry Kutz of Edinboro and Joyce Jerasa of Edinburg. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Michael Ventrone and his wife, Jill, Melissa Ventrone and her husband, Todd Shaffer, Allison Gaiser, Ryan Johnson and his wife, Alisha Johnson, Jessica Koon, Earl John Koon and his wife, Amanda, Steven Coots and his wife, Amber, Mark Jerasa and his wife, Jennifer, John Jerasa and his wife, Grace, and David Jerasa; six great granddaughters and one great grandson; one brother, Robert G. Craig; three sisters-in-law and two brothers-in­ law, Edna May Craig, Mary Catherine "Mickey" and Harold "Lefty" McConnell, Margaret R. "Peggy" and Gene Scala: and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, parents: one sister and one brother, Cerelena Werhnyak and William Craig; one grandson, Matthew James Ventrone and one sister-in-law, Linda Craig. A special thank you to the nurses, staff, care givers and residents in Town Square, at Wesbury United Methodist Community. The compassionate care and loving community you provided will always be remembered in the way you made her smile. Arrangements are being handled by R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, 2429 Wilmington Road. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made in memory of Beatrice A.
