Bertha R. Shenker, 91, of Youngstown, passed away the morning of April 18, 2010 in Austin Woods Nursing Center.Bertha was born on September 13, 1918 in New Castle to the late John and Sarah Henning Shenker. She graduated from Nyack College in New York where she worked for several years. Ms. Shenker returned to the area residing in Youngstown and New Castle where she was the supervisor of the main switchboard operations at Youngstown Sheet and Tube. Bertha was a member of First Alliance Church in New Castle.Ms. Shenker is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, George, Michael and John Shenker; two sisters, Mini Crum O'neil and Martha Phipps Rogers, and several nieces and nephews.Vistation will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, from 10-11 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Rd.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home conducted by the Rev. Tom Barnts. Burial will be in Castleview Memorial Gardens.
