Beth Renee Pears, 44, passed into the presence of the Lord from her home in Volant, Sunday, May 19, 2013. She was born December 30, 1968 in Colorado Springs, CO. Beth married Jeffrey Dru Pears July 18, 1992. Beth was 1986 graduate of New Castle High School. As a graduate of Westminster College, she earned BA degrees in English and Political Science and MA degrees as a Reading Specialist and Guidance Counseling. She taught English Literature and Honors English at Shenango High School for 21 years and served as Chair of the English Department. These were enjoyable years and she loved each of her students. In addition to her husband, Jeffrey Dru Pears, she is survived by her parents Kenneth and Jessie Meyer of New Castle; brother and sister-in-law Mark and Charity Meyer and niece Adora and nephew Kenton of Lewisberry, PA; father-in-law and wife Lee and Yvonne Pears; brothers-in-law and wives, Tim and Diane Pears, David and Wendy Pears and nephews Alexander and Avery Pears. She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law Patricia Pears, and her maternal and paternal grandparents. As a member of First Assembly of God of New Castle, she was active in youth and children's ministries. Since 2005 Beth and Dru have directed Royal Family Kid's Camp for abused and neglected children of Lawrence County. They also taught training courses for Royal Family Kids' on a national level for 5 years. Beth had a passion for life and children. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, May 23, and 4:00-6:30 p.m. Friday, May 24, at the First Assembly of God Church, 2021 Pulaski Road, New Castle, PA. There will be a funeral service at 6:30 p.m. Friday at the church. Pastor Chad Stoecker, of First Assembly of God, and Dr. Donald Meyer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Royal Family Kid's Camp, 1605 Linden Street, New Castle, PA 16105; or the Beth Pears Memorial Scholarship Fund, made payable to "Shenango Community Education Foundation", Shenango High School, 2550 Ellwood Road, New Castle, PA 16101. Arrangements are by the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, New Castle.
