Bette A. Riggans, 90, of New Castle, passed away the morning of May 14, 2015 at the Golden Hills Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center. Born July 20, 1924 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Albert M. and Bessie C. Houk Brown. She was preceded in death on April 10, 2010 by her husband, Maynard W. Riggans, whom she married on July 12, 1941. She attended Shenango High School. Bette was a homemaker, and enjoyed taking care of her family whom she adored. She attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church. She is survived by two daughters, Bonnie L.(Larry) Carl of Chico, CA, Patricia J.(Kenneth) Hutchinson of New Castle; one son, Thomas M.(Margaret) Riggans of New Castle; one brothers, Myrle (Gloria) Brown of Florida; one sister-in-law, Mae Brown of Castlewood; one brother-in-law, Waide Kennedy of Ellwood City; one son-in-law, Clement J. Hilton; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Bette was preceded in death by one daughter, Bette J. Hilton; three sisters, Lucielle Moore, Margret E. Reese, and Roberta Kennedy; one brother, Harold Brown and one great-grandson, Jason Hilton, Jr. Visitation will be held from 5-8 PM today at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., New Castle. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Graceland Cemetery.
