Betty J. Conover, age 96, formerly of Decker Drive, New Castle, passed away peacefully the afternoon of June 10, 2016 at Shenango Presbyterian SeniorCare in New Wilmington, PA. Born May 31, 1920 in Punxsutawney, PA, she was a daughter of Clyde A. and Ollie Hayes Campbell. She was preceded in death in 1989 by her husband, Walter K. Conover, Jr., whom she married on August 9, 1941. Betty was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker to her husband and two children. She loved to play bridge with friends, frequently playing two to three times a week. She also enjoyed doing the crossword puzzles and other puzzles she found in the daily newspaper. She held membership in the New Castle Country Club and the New Castle Ladies of the Lions, and was a volunteer with the American Cancer Society. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She is survived by two daughters, Julia A. Conover and her husband, Judge Albert John Snite, Jr. of Philadelphia, PA; Janice K. Rubinstein and her husband Scott of Glen Mills, PA; and four grandchildren, Adam Rubinstein and Rachel Rubinstein of Glen Mills, PA, Laura Snite of San Diego, CA and Caroline Steel of Philadelphia. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Robert, John, Ralph and James Campbell; and two sisters, Henrietta Fitzgerald and Rachel Campbell. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 17 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, June 18 from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, PA. A funeral service will take place on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Nathan Loudon officiating. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty's honor to the City Rescue Mission, 319 S.
