Betty J. Dilks, 94, of Girard, Ohio, passed away the morning of January 19, 2019 at her residence.
Born November 27, 1924 in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of Alvey and Mary (Black) Glitch.
She was preceded in death on November 10, 2006 by her husband of 70 years, Lin E. Dilks, whom she married February 11, 1936.
Betty received her RN Certificate from the State of Ohio State Nurses Board on August 31, 1945 and her RN Certificate from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania on December 10, 1945. She used her nursing degree in her employment at Northside Hospital in the Maternity Ward.
She was also an art teacher with Howland Christian School for which she received Teacher of the Year Award in 1998 from Walmart.
Betty was a member of Northside Baptist Church.
She is survived by three sons, William L. (Debbie) Dilks and Harold T. Dilks all of Long Beach, CA, and Lin E. Dilks, III; one brother, Lewis Glitch of New Castle; one sister-in-law, Shirley Glitch of New Castle; two grandchildren, David Dilks and Debra Dilks and two great-grandchildren, Angel Lynn & Bella.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother, Tom Glitch and two sisters, Helen Ringer and Florence Klenotic.
There will be a one hour visitation on Tuesday, January 22, from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, followed by a burial in Graceland Cemetery.
