Betty McFarland, age 85, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 14, 2019 at Quality of Life Services - New Castle. Born July 26, 1933, in Butler Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Eva (Cox) Peterman. She married her beloved husband, Robert McFarland, on February 16, 1952. He survives at home. Mrs. McFarland was a graduate of Butler High School in Georgia. She was a long time employee of the Trading Post and Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy. Betty will always be remembered for her devotion to her family. She was a full time stay-at-home mom and what gave her the most enjoyment in life, was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Robert, Betty is survived by three daughters, Margaret (John) Ward, Roberta Quinlan both of New Castle, Pa., and Linda (David) Deitle of Colver, Pa.; one son, Robert (Susan) McFarland, Jr. of New Castle, Pa.; two brothers, Clark (Marie) Peterman of Butler, Ga., and Millard (Maryanne) Peterman of Fort Valley, Ga.; twelve grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Betty is preceded in death by one daughter, Virginia Riggans; one brother, Kenneth Peterman; and one sister, Brenda Deason. Visitation will be held on Sunday, February 17th from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will follow immediately at 4:00 PM, with the Rev. Michael Spicuzza, officiating. Donations may be made in Betty's honor to the charity of the donors choice.
