Betty W. Patch, age 93, formerly of Dewey Avenue, passed away the night of October 25, 2016 at Clen-Moore Place.
Born December 5, 1922 in New Castle, she was the daughter of George H. and Lillian C. West Ward.
She was preceded in death on November 4, 1972 by her first husband, John H. Schuster, whom she married on May 15, 1944. She subsequently married Austin A. Patch on March 19, 1983 and he passed away on September 20, 1999.
A 1940 graduate of New Castle High School, Betty was employed as an operator and worked in the engineering department of Bell Telephone Co.
She was a former troop leader with the Girl Scouts of America, a member of the ONO Card Club, and one of the original members of the Castle Clowns.
A lifelong member of Croton United Methodist Church, she was active in the JOY Missionary Circle and was a former trustee.
She is survived by five daughters, Kathryn Heess of New Castle, Kristine (Charles) Cilano of Udon Thani, Thailand, Jonalynn (Alan) Birnbaum of Miami Shores, FL., Penelope (Gary) Penney of Lexington, Ohio, and Susan Jackson of Lowell, Indiana; two sons, John J. Schuster of Miami Beach, FL., and Donald (Jackie) Patch of Minster, Ohio; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and both husbands, she was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Street; one son, Douglas Patch; and a son-in-law, Judson Heess.
Visitation will be Sunday, November 6, from 1:00-3:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A Memorial Service will take place immediately following visitation Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Long of Croton U.M. Church officiating.
Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
