Betty Lou Preisel Nowak, 91 of New Castle passed away the afternoon of August 4, 2024, at her residence.

Born on December 14, 1932, in Wampum, PA, she was the daughter of Walter Reno and Freda Reno Jones Barkley. She married Charles Leo Preisel on February 21, 1950, who preceded her in death. She subsequently married Walter H. Nowak who also preceded her in death.

She was a graduate of New Castle High School. She was employed as a manager at various restaurants including Kentucky Fried Chicken and Ballengers. Betty also worked as an associate at Publix. Most of all, she enjoyed time spent with her family. She was a member of St. Columkile Catholic Church in Ft. Myers, FL.

Betty is survived by one daughter, Cynthia Sinkovich of Ashville, NC; three sons, Charles (Helen) Preisel, Jr. of New Castle, John Preisel of Tionesta, David Preisel of Monticello, FL; sisters, Shirley Hodge of Canfield, OH, Darlene Duncan, Doris Frey and Susan Dickey all of New Castle; one brother, Melvin Reno; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents and husbands she was preceded in death by daughter, Deborah Preisel; brothers, Robert & Walter Reno and William Jones; sisters, Cora Joseph, Janet Williams, Joan Steedley and Patricia Floyd.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 9th, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm at R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.

A blessing service will immediately follow visitation on Friday at 1:00 PM at the funeral home with Deacon Daniel Roberts officiating.

Entombment will be at Castle View Cemetery.
