Betty Ruth Thompson, 87, of New Castle passed away the evening of Sunday, May 28, 2017, at the Jameson Care Center. Betty was born on Dec. 21, 1929, in Ellwood City to the late Stephen and Anna Ludwig Deppner. She was married to Richard H. Thompson. He preceded her in passing. Mrs. Thompson was a graduate of Lincoln High School and dedicated herself, as a homemaker, to her husband and her three sons. She was a member of Wimodausis and Third Presbyterian Church. She joined the church in 1952, and served as a deacon from 1997 to 2002. Betty is survived by her three sons, David Thompson (Christine) of Dayton, Ohio, Robert Thompson (Sandy) of Ozark, Missouri, and Brian Thompson (Jolene) of Zelienople; a sister, Thelma Pfeifer of Enon Valley; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Thompson was preceded in passing by her four brothers and two sisters. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Wednesday at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will be conducted immediately following visitation at noon Wednesday at the funeral home.
