Boyd L. Cook, 81, of New Castle, passed away the morning of October 7, 2019 at the Butler VA Medical Center.
Born January 30, 1938 in Broad Top City, PA, he was the son of Hobert Houck and Helen (Conrad) Cook Houck.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Karen Evonne (Bessell) Cook, whom he married September 8, 1967.
After his graduation from Robertsdale High School, Boyd served in the U.S. Army from 1961-1963 and the Army Reserves until 1967.
He was an independent truck driver for 40 years until his retirement in 2001.
Mr. Cook was a member of Neshannock Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Terri Leitem of Farnham, Virginia; one step-son, Kenneth (Marjorie) White of New Castle; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Grace Thomas; and a step-son, Matthew White.
There will be a one hour visitation on Thursday, October 10, from 10:00-11:00 a.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. A funeral service will follow immediately after visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Robert Strobel and Pastor Randy Stringer officiating.
Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
