Brenda L. Spellick, age 64, of Boardman, Ohio, passed away at her residence the afternoon of December 8, 2016. Born November 30, 1952 in New Castle, she was the daughter of Russell and Martha Curry Strohecker. After her graduation from Mohawk High School in 1970, she attended the Jameson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a registered nurse until her retirement in 2006. Among her many interests, Brenda enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing and reading. She most loved the time she spent with her grandchildren. Brenda was of Protestant faith. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Sharyn Spellick of Slippery Rock; three brothers, Dennis (Linda) Strohecker of Lebanon, Maine, Bruce Strohecker of Columbia, SC, and Phillip Strohecker of East Palestine, OH; two sisters, Barbara (Tom) Durst of Rockhill, SC, Kimberly (Robert) Sheldone of Hillsville, PA; two grandchildren, Jordan Spellick and Nathaniel Spellick; and one step-grandchild, Makenzie Webb. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons, Michael D. Spellick and Matthew A. Spellick. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-4 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A funeral service will take place immediately following visitation Sunday at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jarod Mills of Clifton Flats Alliance Church officiating.
