Carina M.
Lambo
Apr 23, 1942 — Sep 5, 2022
Carina M. Lambo, age 80, of New Castle, passed away the afternoon of Sept. 5, 2022, at the Haven Convalescent Home.
Born April 23, 1942, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ray and Rose (Freda) Ciampoli.
On Dec. 7, 1963, she married her devoted and beloved husband of 58 years, Joseph Lambo. He survives at home.
Carina was a 1960 graduate of New Castle High School. She went on to study at St. Francis School of Nursing, graduating in 1963, earning her degree as a registered nurse. Carina fulfilled her dream of becoming an OB nurse, because it was the happiest place in the hospital. She was employed by both St. Francis Hospital and Jameson Hospital and was often heard saying that the babies she assisted in delivering, "were a gift from God."
World class shopper, traveler, gourmet cook and baker, gracious hostess and avid Pittsburgh Penguin Hockey fan, are just a few things that Carina will be remembered for. She loved getting together with family and friends and enjoyed hosting many family reunions over the years. Carina had an infectious smile, overwhelming style and grace, and a generous spirit putting much thought and personal care into the gifts she made and gave to her loved ones. She was a lifetime advocate for her daughter Beth Ann, and all who are touched by Autism and other disabilities. Carina attended First Assembly of God Church and later First Baptist Church.
Along with her husband, Carina is survived by three daughters, Amy Hawthorne of Saratoga, CA, Jill (Nathan) Manczka of New Castle, PA, and Beth Ann Lambo of Polk, PA; one son Jamie (Ann-Margaret) of Canton, OH; five grandchildren, Ann Therese Lambo, Paul Lambo, Max Hawthorne, Joey Manczka, and Lucas Hawthorne. She adored her many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Carina was preceded in death by her parents, brother Raymond Ciampoli, and son-in-law, Paul Hawthorne.
Visitation will be held on Thurs, Sept. 8th 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle.
A funeral service will take place at the funeral home, on Fri. Sept. 9th at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Matthew Bupp officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Polk Strong, PO Box 194, Polk, PA 16342.
Burial will be at Graceland Mausoleum.
