Carol A. Brightshue, age 72, of New Castle, passed away the morning of February 8, 2019, at Quality of Life Services - New Castle. Born January 3, 1947, in New Castle, she was the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Thompson) Woods. Mrs. Brightshue married Vernon L. Brightshue, Jr., on May 18, 1967. He survives at home. Carol was a 1965 graduate of New Castle High School. She worked at K-Mart and then went on to work for Huntington Bank, retiring after 25 years of service. Carol enjoyed many things in life. She loved to travel, play tennis, golf and most of all enjoyed trips to see the Grand Canyon. Carol cherished spending time with her family. Along with her husband, Vernon, Carol is survived by two sons; Jeffery W. Brightshue of Pittsburgh, Pa., Michael J. (Dawn) Brightshue of New Castle, four grandchildren; Stevie, Corin, Mackenzie, Emily and one great-grandchild. Preceding her in death are her parents. Visitation will be held on Tues. Feb. 12th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A service will take place immediate after visitation at 8:00 PM with the Rev.
