Carole L. Gilson, age 73, of New Castle, PA passed away the morning of Aug. 13, 2025, at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.

Born Feb. 19, 1952, in New Castle, PA, she was the daughter of the late Roger and Doris (Lanigan) Jones, Jr.

On July 14, 1973, she married the love of her life, George R. Gilson. They were married for 50 wonderful years. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2024.

Carole was a New Castle High School graduate. She went on to obtain her nursing license from Passavant Hospital in Pittsburgh. For the last 30 years she worked as an LPN, employed by Kadima, formerly known as Silver Oaks. Carole was an avid animal lover, and adored all animals, especially her 2 cats. She enjoyed feeding the birds, deer, and squirrels. What gave Carole the most joy in life was spending time with her family. She will always be remembered as the best mother and mother-in-law in the world, and also for her generosity and selfless acts of kindness.

Survivors include her children, Shaad (Sarah) Gilson of Marietta, GA, Kimberly (Mark) Trontel of Hermitage, PA, and Christopher (Kelly) Gilson of New Castle, PA; one brother, Roger (Allison) Jones of New Castle, PA; nine grandchildren, Joshua Gilson, Kimberly DeLello, Alexandra Gilson, Evren Kennington, Avery Kennington, Mark Trontel II, Anthony Trontel, Nicholas Trontel, and Ryan Trontel; one great-grandson, Michael DeLello and one great-granddaughter on the way; niece Mallory Jones, nephew Roger Jones; and great nephew and niece, Rowan and Ellie Samsa.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or services.

Burial will be alongside her husband at Oak Park Cemetery.
