Carolyn R. Stonebraker Barbour, 71, of Volant, passed away the evening of December 24, 2010 at the UPMC Presbyterian Hospital.Born February 16, 1939, in Lackawannock Township, PA, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Alice Orr Stonebraker. Carolyn was a graduate of New Wilmington High School. She married D. Dale Barbour on April 6, 1957. He survives in Volant, PA. Carolyn served as a hostess for the New Castle Country Club. She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Jerri Barbour-Doehre, of Hermitage, PA, and Elizabeth Myers, of Volant, PA; three sons, Scott Barbour, of New Castle, Robin Barbour, of New Castle, and Dale Barbour, of Greenville, PA; three brothers, Ralph Stonebraker, of Sharon, PA, William Stonebraker, of West Middlesex, PA, and Harry Stonebraker, of Guy Mills, PA; six sisters, Norma Snyderwine, of Sharon, PA, Ferne Layton, of Volant, PA, May Jones, of New Wilmington, PA, Shirley McConnell, of Hermitage, PA, Phyllis Jones, of Girard, OH, and Esther Turney, of Tampa, FL; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Marie Anderson; and two brothers, Jim and Tom Stonebraker.There is no visitation.A memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2011, at R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road. The Rev. John Yergan of First Baptist Church will be officiating.
