Carolyn J. Kassi, 71, of 119 Aiken Road, New Castle, passed away the night of September 23, 2012 at Jameson Hospital.Born June 4, 1941, in New Castle, she was a daughter of Paul A. and Gladys M. McNees Brown.She is survived by her husband, Paul W. Kassi, whom she married August 6, 1966.She was a 1959 graduate of New Castle High School and received her nursing degree at West Penn Hospital. She then attended Youngstown State University where she earned her Bachelor's degree in nursing. Carolyn spent over thirty years as a registered nurse for Jameson Hospital. In addition, she worked for 3 years as a school nurse for Wilmington Area schools as well as a substitute school nurse for the Shenango School District. Carolyn was also a private duty nurse. She was a Shaklee Distributor for 14 years and worked in the office of Carr's Veterinary Clinic.Carolyn had also worked as a registered nurse many years ago in both Northfield, Minn. and Durant, Oklahoma.She enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Paws and Taws and the Sunshine Girls. She also liked feeding the birds and critters and was a cat lover. Additionally, she enjoyed boating, fishing and traveling.Carolyn attended Wesley United Methodist Church.In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, Clinton P. Kassi and his wife Amanda of Grove City; two brothers-in-law, Robert and Carol Kassi of Gainesville, FL and John and Karen Kassi of Franklin, PA; and her mother-in-law, June Kassi of New Castle.She was preceded in death by her parents.Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012, from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road.A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. The Rev.
