Carolyn L. Shoaff, 88, formerly of Garden Way, Hermitage, passed away the morning of September 18, 2014 at John XXIII Home in Hermitage, Pa.Born November 23, 1925 in Saltsburg, Pa., she was a daughter of George S. and Carolyn L. Deeter Pfeiffer.After attending New Castle Business College, Carolyn worked for the Johnson-Bronze Company of New Castle and Westminster College in New Wilmington. She then was employed with the Social Security office of Sharon, Pa.Carolyn was past worthy matron of the Eastern Star, Chapter 333 of New Castle, and was an active member for 30 years. She was secretary of the Valley Service Club at Sharon Regional and was involved with the Council for Basic Education.While working for Glenn McCracken, she authored two children stories for J.B. Lippincott.She was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Sharon.She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn A.""Cathy"" and Tom Wheeler of Naperville, IL; two sons and daughters-in-law, David W. and Monica Stillwagon of Townsend, IN., and Robert G. and Linda Stillwagon of New Castle; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, William W. Pfeiffer; a sister, Sarah J. Rountree; and a nephew, George W. Pfeiffer.Private family services will be held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Glenn Hink of First Presbyerian Church of Sharon will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Park Cemetery in New Castle.Memorial contributions may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Sharon or to John XXIII Home in Hermitage.
