Catherine M. Freed, 91, passed away the morning of December 23rd,2014 at Golden Hill Nursing Home. Born in New Castle on December 13, 1923, Catherine was a daughter of the late Ralph M. Copper and Martha J. Copper. Catherine graduated from Princeton High School in 1942, worked at Webster Products as part of the war effort during WWII and was a retiree of Shenango China. She enjoyed music, bowling, reading and puzzles. She is survived by her step-daughter Linda ( Freed ) Rand & husband Jack, her sisters Jennie C. Dicks of Rolla, MO , Shirley I. Welker of Apopka, L and brother Ralph J. Copper of New Castle, 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Catherine was preceded in passing by her first husband Edmund Gumienny, second husband Frank Freed, and her brothers Gerald Copper and Dale Copper as well as her step-daughter Betty (Freed) Killian. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2-3 pm at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc., New Castle. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation at 3:00 pm at the funeral home. Rev. Andrew Jillson will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
