Charlean E. Atwell, age 83, of New Castle, passed away the morning of Sept. 20, 2024, at the Haven Convalescent Home.

Born Aug. 23, 1941, in Butler, PA, she was the daughter of the late Maurice and Evelyn (Davis) Whann.

On March 16, 1963, she married to her beloved husband of 55 years, Eugene E. Atwell. He preceded her in death on March 26, 2018.

Charlean was a graduate of Karns City High School. She then went on to earn an Associate degree from Erie Business School. Charlean was a devoted homemaker raising her children and more than 19 foster children. She loved to play piano, guitar, and write music. She was a faithful member of New Life Baptist Church. What gave Charlean the most joy in life was spending time with her family.

Survivors include one daughter, Susan Texter; one son, Daniel (Kathy) Atwell of New Castle, PA; one brother, Mike Whann of Rochester, NY; four grandchildren, Emilee Henderson, Adam & Brady Atwell, and Steven Texter.

In addition to her parents and husband, Charlean was preceded in death by one son, Steven E. Atwell and two brothers, Richard Whann and Bruce Whann.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no visitation or services.

Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery, alongside her husband and son.
