Charles L. "Lou" Jenkins, 94, of Melvin Dr., New Castle, passed away the morning of August 29, 2013 at Jameson Hospital North. Born May 28, 1919 in Rineyville, KY. He was the son of Charles Walter and Elizabeth Ellen Thomas Jenkins. Charles married Geraldine Ann Raddatz on August 19, 1944 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Cleveland, OH. He served in the military during World War II from 1942-1946 in Army Ordnance and the U. S.Army Air Corps. Charles retired as District Sales Manager from Western & Southern Life Insurance Co. He took his New Castle branch to number two in the nation in sales. He was a member of St. Camillus Church. He was a former commentator at St. Camillus and also St. Mary's Church in New Castle. Charles was a member of the Knights of Columbus Poland Ohio Council. In addition to his wife, survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, Robert Jenkins of Bemus Point, NY, Thomas and Patty Jenkins of New Castle, and Daniel and Leslie Jenkins of Jamestown, PA; daughters and sons-in-law, Louann and Thomas Weingartner of New Castle, Dianne and Angelo Papa of New Castle, and Sharon Jenkins of New Wilmington; sisters, Mildred Jenkins, and Rita Jenkins, both of Mayfield Heights, OH; grandchildren, Jaime Lyon, Peter Jenkins, Jackie Jenkins, Daniel Jenkins, Austin Jenkins, Jessica Griffith, Jason Griffith, and Annie Papa; and great grandchildren, Jonathan Lyon and Juli Lyon. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Frank, Bernard and Rev. Robert Jenkins; and a sister, Kathleen Jenkins. Visitation will be Sunday, September 1, 2013, 2-6 p.m. at the R. Cunningham Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle. A procession will leave the funeral home Tuesday, September 3, 2013, at 9:30 a.m. for a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Camillus Church at 10 a.m. The Rev. Father Thomas Lewandowski will officiate.Burial will be in Castle View Gardens.
